One
hundred percent (100%) of the Current Month Index will be used to determine
players’ handicaps. Course handicaps are
determined using the “Index Conversion Chart” that is posted in the pro shop,
in your SCGA Directory Of Golf, or on the SCGA web
site: http://www.scga.org/. There will be a maximum of 18 strokes between
players in match play.
Both players are to determine their course handicap for the match play based on 100% of their current month index and from the set of tees they will be playing from. The lower handicap player in the match will receive no strokes in match play. The higher handicap player will receive the number of strokes equal to the difference of the players’ course handicap. It will be players' responsibility to insure that the proper handicap is determined for themselves and their competitors. Contact Dan Bennett, dan@ocitpro.com for assistance if needed.
If players are playing from different set of tees (blue, white or red); course handicaps are to be computed from the set of tees players are playing from respectively. Any strokes allowed during match play will be taken in accordance with the ranking of the set of tees of the player receiving strokes (i.e. higher handicapped player). This can be men vs. women or white tees vs. blue tees, etc. Handicap adjustments may be allowed if the ratings from each set of tees are different.
Example: Player A with a 9.2 index will take 100% of his index. From the blue tees, a course of Slope=119, the 9.2 converts to a 10 handicap. Player B with a 12.6 index will take 100% of his index. From the blue tees, a course of Slope=119, the 12.6 converts to a 13 handicap. Since Player A has a lower handicap, he will receive no strokes in Match Play. Player B has a higher handicap and will receive 3 strokes, which is the number of strokes equal to the difference in the computed handicaps (13-10=3). Player B will then be given a stroke handicap on each of the three highest rated handicapped holes. There is a maximum 18 strokes differential between players.
Example: Player A with a 9.2 index takes 100% of his index. From the Blue tees, a course of Slope=119, the 9.2 converts to a 10 handicap. Player B with a 20.2 index converts his index from a Slope=125 to a handicap of 22. Player B is playing from the White tees. The course rating for Blue tees is 71.5 and for the White tees is 69.4. An adjustment for course rating is also made by taking the difference of the course rating (71.5-69.4 = 2.1). So, this will adjust Player B’s handicap to 20 (22-2 = 20). The stroke difference is 20-10 = 8. So, Player B will get 8 strokes from Player A. The handicapped hole will be taken from the corresponding holes of the higher handicapped player (Player B).
If a match is even at the end of 18-Holes, players will have the option of:
· If the golf course permits, play in a sudden death playoff. Strokes in a sudden death playoff will fall on the same holes as the first 18-holes.
· Hold another 18-Hole Match on another day
Match play results should be reported to Dan Woo at oilmasters@cox.net or text to (714) 743-1031.
If you would like, one player can provide a short summary of the match (typically the winner … because the loser doesn’t want to re-live the pain!) and email it to us to include in the OMGC E-News.
GOOD
LUCK TO ALL PLAYERS!
If a match is even at the end of 18 holes, the players will have the option of holding a sudden death match playoff. Strokes in a sudden death playoff will fall on the same holes as in the first 18 holes.
Optionally, players may agree to hold another 18 hole match on another day.
